Backend C Developer

Our client’s Financial Application Development group is seeking a Backend C Developer to work in the Paramus location. The company is engaged in a major effort to migrate legacy backend code to C, and the backend C developer will play a key role in that project. The backend C developer will be part of the Financial Application Development team, which develops our core ERP application. Projects will include both individual efforts and team collaborations. Our approach to software development requires a daily presence in the office (i.e., not remote).

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
 

  • Understand legacy functionality, and the C code generated by our C migration tool, and made any adjustments to ensure the resulting new code meets business requirements
  • Develop and support new modules and enhancements, as described by business analysts and system architects
  • Work to meet project milestones and due dates
  • Write and debug Oracle queries and updates
  • Investigate reported software and data issues. Identify issue by analyzing symptoms and determining the underlying problem.
  • Install and maintain your own development environment maintenance. E.g., C development environment, Toad
  • Maintain and create documentation for all program changes, procedures and new development
  • Adhere to internal procedures for source version management
  • Assist in software updates and related efforts, sometimes during off-hours

Job Qualifications:
 

  • At least 3 years of experience with C (or C++). Some experience with Java would be a bonus. Assembler experience is also a bonus (reading the code, not writing it)
  • Experience with modern C IDEs, and Github
  • A self-motivated, team player with excellent communication skills
  • Proven problem-solving skills in a complex applications environment
  • Ability to learn quickly, and share knowledge with others
  • Strong analytical skills
  • A strong focus on accuracy, results, and quality
  • Able to perform off-hours software support/maintenance
  • SDLC best practices knowledge, via relevant experience or education
  • Understanding of networking technologies, protocols
  • Strong Oracle query skills

Education/Experience Required:
 

  • Computer Science Degree or equivalent experience
  • 5+ years of experience playing a key role in developing back-end business logic for an enterprise application

Candidate must be fully vaccinated against COVID 19 and willing to work in-office Mon- Thurs. (Remote on Fridays)
