The Senior Accountant carries out a broad range of accounting responsibilities. This position plays a key role in financial monthly closes, as well as upholding controls and compliance with Company policies. In additional to performing monthly closing processes, this role will prepare account reconciliations and  well-documented account analyses, and support the overall finance and operational functions The position reports to the Assistant Controller

Job Responsibilities:

  • Participate in the month-end, quarter-end and year-end closing processes and audits

  • Prepare and record P&L and Balance Sheet journal entries, including accruals

  • Fluent understanding of inventory, cost of goods sold, and shipment files and data

  • Perform monthly reconciliations and account analyses

  • Analyze actual/forecast variances and document same in asset and liability schedules

  • Record and maintain amortization schedules related to prepaid and fixed asset expenses

  • Reconcile monthly bank and credit card statements

  • Interact with sales team and process customer invoices and payments timely and accurately

  • Ensure timely and accurate recording of shipment and settlement files, as well as sales accruals

  • Possess a rich understanding of shipment processes and files and be able to analyze and discuss

  • Coordinate billing, invoicing, reconciling, reporting of Drop-Ship and Bulk Sales activities

  • Daily cash analysis & reporting and intercompany transfers for FT, and assist with compilation of IT files needed for business partner reporting. (paying bills, moving inventory, collecting cash)

  • Perform ad-hoc analysis, assignments and reporting as requested and/or needed

  • Sales and use tax reporting and analysis

  • Create and publish P&Ls by channel and be able to perform research & analysis and connect the recording of journal entries to their impact to the financials.

  • Comply with federal, state, and local financial legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation, enforcing adherence to requirements, and advising management on actions needed

  • Aid Assistant Controller and business partners with growing FT business, enhancing profitability and implementing process improvements through new systems and procedures

  • Identify and drive continuous process improvement
