Are you a hands-on, detail-oriented accounting professional with retail experience and a CPA? We’re looking for a driven Assistant Controller to join our growing finance team at a large retail company. This is a high-impact role with a clear path to Controller for the right candidate.
? Key Responsibilities:
Support daily accounting operations (GL, AP/AR, payroll, reconciliations, fixed assets)
Lead month-end close and ensure timely, accurate reporting
Assist in preparation of internal financials and external audit documentation
Maintain compliance with GAAP and internal controls
Partner with cross-functional teams (Finance, Operations, Real Estate) to support business needs
Identify and implement process improvements
Mentor and guide junior accounting staff
Serve as a strategic partner to the Controller and VP of Finance
? Qualifications:
CPA REQUIRED – The company operates with public-company rigor
Retail accounting experience is a MUST
Familiarity with Epicor or similar retail finance systems is a plus
Excellent organizational and communication skills
Hands-on, detail-driven, and solutions-oriented
Able to thrive in a fast-paced, multi-entity environment
