The Transportation Associate will assist with the coordination of drayage for containerized freight from ports, rail yards, airport terminals to warehouses. They will assist with the tracking and processing of containers to ensure timely pickup/delivery of containers. They will communicate daily with drayage partners, drivers, brokers and internal teams on shipment status.
This position can be based in either Lyndhurst, NJ, or Dayton, NJ.
Core Responsibilities
- Assist with processing and monitoring the scheduling/dispatching of air shipments and containers from port/airport terminals or railed containers to warehouses in the US & Canada.
- Monitor container locations and status from port pick-up to final empty return for warehouse and POE shipments.
- Communicate with drayage partners to ensure on-time delivery while avoiding demurrage or detention charges.
- Assist with resolving issues with container damage, holds, or scheduling conflicts.
- Report and communicate the status on shipment deliveries to internal teams.
- Assist with reviewing and auditing drayage and accessorial invoices for accuracy
- Research detention invoices and process chargebacks as needed
Requirements & Skills
- Minimum 3 years experience in logistics drayage
- Understanding of port operations and container types
- Proficient in logistics software and Microsoft Office
- Strong multitasking abilities and clear communication to handle high-volume and tight deadlines.
- Ability to work proactively, independently and reliably in a fastpaced, team environment
- Good written, oral and interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively interface with partners, management, and team members
Estimated Compensation: $60,000 - $75,000 Per Year
