A leading global fashion and retail organization is seeking an IT Applications Director to join its New York City (SoHo) headquarters.
This leadership role is responsible for overseeing the strategy, implementation, optimization, and support of enterprise business applications that power both Wholesale and Retail operations. Reporting into IT leadership, the Applications Director will lead a team of three IT professionals and serve as the primary liaison between business stakeholders and technology teams. The ideal candidate will translate business needs into scalable application solutions, drive strategic technology initiatives, and ensure the organization’s critical systems effectively support day-to-day operations and future growth.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the functional management, optimization, and support of core enterprise applications, including PLM, ERP, distribution planning, and Point-of-Sale (POS) platforms.
- Partner closely with business leaders to understand operational needs and translate them into functional requirements and technology solutions.
- Ensure enterprise applications are configured to support current business processes while enabling future scalability and continuous improvement.
- Lead application-related projects from planning through implementation, ensuring delivery on time, within budget, and aligned with business objectives.
- Oversee application support, system performance, issue resolution, upgrades, and user satisfaction.
- Manage, mentor, and develop a team of application professionals, fostering collaboration, accountability, and continuous learning.
- Collaborate with internal IT teams and third-party vendors to maintain system stability, integrations, and ongoing enhancements.
Qualifications
- 8+ years of experience in IT application management, with experience in the fashion, retail, consumer goods, or luxury industry preferred.
- Strong understanding of Wholesale and Retail business processes.
- Hands-on experience managing enterprise applications, including PLM (Centric Software preferred), Microsoft Dynamics 365 ERP, and Point-of-Sale (POS) systems. Experience with Anaplan or other supply chain/distribution planning solutions is a plus.
- Proven track record leading enterprise application initiatives and managing technical teams.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, project management, and communication skills.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative business environment while balancing strategic initiatives and operational support.
Estimated Compensation: $180,000 - $220,000 Per Year
