Job Summary:  
The Head of Marketing leads the definition of the U.S. marketing strategy, communication, and implementation. As a member of the Marketing team, the VP will oversee portfolio management and product lifecycle management.  Working in close collaboration with R&D, Supply chain, Sourcing and Sales to ensure growth and profitability objectives are achieved.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

  • Submit medium and long-term marketing strategy recommendations by:
  • Coordinating and consolidating market analysis on all SBM Categories,
  • Identifying new consumer trends, usage, and behaviors,
  • Recommending growth paths, priorities, and resource allocation.
  • Ensure portfolio management and sustainability while navigating challenging regulatory and political hurdles by:
  • Defining short- and long-term portfolio strategy,
  • Collaborating closely with and coordinating plans with Regulatory, R&D, Supply Chain and Sales,
  • Identifying key portfolio needs based upon gaps and opportunities across categories,
  • Preparing long term innovations, working closely with R&D, to be launched at market,
  • Building strategic partnerships; supporting and ensuring new product development process is in alignment with the Company strategy, growth, and profitability goals.

    Work Experience:

    • Introduce new concepts in mature markets, with a keen understanding of the categories, consumers, customers, brands, and products.  
    • Identify categories and markets for development; create plans for growth.
    • Research and present options, considering improvements, cost points and the consumer perspective.
    • Research, create and implement a promotional calendar across multiple channels; analyze and produce performance reporting to measure success and course correct as needed.  Project manage to ensure budget goals are achieved. 
    • Create and implement an annual Marketing plan and Media budget.  Modify, manage spending and create reports to validate ROI on expenditures. Ensure flexibility to search out new marketing opportunities and retreat from plans without proven success. 
    • Research, prepare and execute nationwide price increases as necessary; collaborate and partner with Sales and business development teams to ensure a smooth transition.
    • Will closely manage the product life cycle, through reviewing consumer data, considering analytics and connecting with R&D partners. Will have a keen understanding of industry trends, IP and patents and contribute to the continued growth of the business by seeking out analytics to use for product recommendations.
    • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, business, or a related field.
    • MBA Highly preferred 
    • 10+ years of new product development experience in consumer products
    • Previous portfolio management experience; proven experience managing a team.
    • Demonstrated success at delivering profitable and incremental products to market.
    • A leader with cross functional collaboration, including with Marketing- Brand, R&D, Finance, Supply Chain, Manufacturing, and 3rd party suppliers.
    • Creative, resourceful problem solving combined with an analytical and detail-oriented approach; Prior close working relationship with R&D; a plus if prior management of R&D
    • Proven B2C Experience a must.
    • Experience with EPA and FDA regulated products, familiar with pivoting due to regulation changes.
    • Consumer-insight led approach to developing product concepts.
    • Experience creating and managing Marketing and Media plans.
    • Experience within the Lawn & Garden industry; EPA regulated products is a plus 

Estimated Compensation: $200,000 - $225,000 Per Year
